Geoff Comfort

Geoff is a Canberra based Accredited Professional Photographer. His studio, Geoff Comfort Photography has been established for over 20 years and specialises in aerial, architectural, commercial and corporate photography. In addition to his work as a photographer, he has been an active member of the Australian Institute of Professional Photographers (AIPP). Within the AIPP, Geoff has served on the ACT Council for many years and has worked both in administrative positions and as a presenter at a National level. He is currently on the AIPP Commercial Council.

Geoff is passionate about excellence in photography and encourages all photographers to continually improve their craft. He has been particularly active in the AIPP Continuing Professional Development program, both as presenter and attendee. As a result of this work he is now recognised with the AIPP membership level of Licentiate (AIPP.L).

Having learned his photography skills on large and medium format film cameras at the Canberra Institute of Technology, Geoff has a great understanding of the technical aspects of photography. He is comfortable with natural or studio lighting and is a great advocate for creating quality images ‘in camera’. He feels that digital post production should be used mainly to enhance images rather than correct poorly taken photos.

Geoff’s ability to engage with students and share his knowledge and experience has seen him as a specialist lecturer with the Canberra Institute of Technology. He has also given presentations to photography groups and judged many photographic competitions. Together with Ben Kopilow, they have run the Floriade Photography Workshops in Canberra for the past eight years.

Geoff is well known for his award winning aerial, architectural and landscape images. Some of these are from commercial shoots and others are personal work. His success with these photos has seen him awarded the AIPP honour of Grand Master of Photography (GM Photog). He is currently both the 2017 AIPP ACT Landscape and Commercial Photographer of the Year.
